AMELIA POWER
My work begins with observation and is shaped by memory and imagination. I explore the quiet drama of everyday life, aiming to make the familiar feel strange.
Focusing on suburban South London, my current paintings depict scenes in the half-light of dusk, where unease is heightened with layered marks and limited palette including cool ultramarine and dark violets. These works suggest fragments of unresolved, poignant narratives, inviting viewers to linger between recognition and uncertainty.
Past exhibitions include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, The Discerning Eye, and the Ruth Borchard Prize. I teach drawing and painting the Kings Foundation Diploma.
