EXHIBITION 'PLAYFUL' - BEHIND THE SCENES IN THE ARISTS' STUDIOS

We take a look at where and how the three artists in our next exhibition ‘A New Focus: Playful’ create their art works. The artists work across a range of media and here you can see the equipment and spaces they use to develop their pieces.

Adam Dunne

Adam is pictured with one of his concrete sculptures which will be on show at the exhibition. He works across different media. His paintings often play between the boundary of sculpture and the two dimensional. Adam requires a wide range of tools to create his pieces. For example for this series of concrete sculptures he designed and made several wooden moulds to hold the substrate while it sets.

Bella Easton

Here is Bella in her print studio with her large Rochat printing press. The inked etching plates are ready to be covered with printing paper and rolled through the press. The etching development process is complex and requires the artist to reverse the image in order to print the correct way round. Bella often creates her own printing ink from pigment and oil to delicately colour her atmospheric etchings.

Eryka Isaak

Eryka is working on one of her glass pieces in her Brockley studio. The glass requires heating to form the sculptural shapes and skilled cutting. Eryka’s glass works often contain other elements such as metal. The process of heating the glass and inclusions can be very unpredictable and result in exciting textures and forms.
