BRITTA POHL

I’m a figurative artist and much of my work explores urban and street scenes, sometimes with figures present in the composition, but often only suggested or alluded to, like a presence that can’t be seen only felt. I enjoy creating paintings, that depict mundane scenes or daily activities, often in liminal spaces, which have a dreamlike quality and where reality blends with imagination. My aim is to evoke an atmosphere that feels both familiar and slightly strange or otherworldly. I love playing with light and shadow and the emotion of colour. My preferred medium is oil on board or canvas, but I also enjoy printmaking.
